If Everything Is Already Written, Then What Is My Choice?

If Allah already knows what I am going to do—and it is already written in my destiny—then was my choice ever truly mine? Islam teaches that Allah’s knowledge is perfect, but His knowing our choice does not mean He forced us to make it. We choose through our own will, and that is why we are accountable for what we deliberately do. But then comes the harder question: If a sin was already known and written before I ever committed it, why am I held responsible for it? What makes that punishment just if the outcome was already known? And if I truly had no control over what was written, can accountability still be called justice? Perhaps the real question is not simply “What is written?” but “For what exactly am I responsible—and why?”
